Very impressed by my first experience at Cafe Stella! From beverages to entrees everything was delicious! Can't wait to return!
Awesome coffee and great cocktails! Had the chance to order while the owners were there and had so much hanging out with this fun couple that I couldn’t leave. Highly recommend
Check out the new double-the-size space! This relaxed gathering place with a very local feel is sure to become a favorite for you as it has for us. A varied blend of vegetarian and non options. Like Portland, OR for the East Coast: the offbeat vibe, the fabulously fresh coffees and teas, the distinctive foods that are anything but cliche. Refreshingly quirky. I love the quinoa fruit bowl; he goes for something with egg and meat. We make breakfast a regular event here, carrying out a few baked goods for tomorrow. Try the London Fog tea latte with lavender and vanilla. Unquestionably the best one we have ever encountered. Don’t miss out. Today, we were delighted to find an acoustic guitarist. Absolutely a perfect addition.
Yummy food, good coffee, and great people.
To the gal wearing the Star Wars holiday sweater... thank you for making my surprise latte. It was so tasty and such a cool experience for my first time at Cafe Stella! I’ll be back for sure.
Great cozy coffee shop with personality!
This café has excellent ambience, coffee, and food. Stella makes so much from scratch here. You have to try the breakfast bowl and a home-made English muffin. Yummy! She also has an excellent lunch and dinner selection. I love the in-house coffee roaster, the place smells amazing and inviting. If you're able to, the window seats offer an enjoyable view of people passing by.
I like local spots, and this place fits the bill. Ordered a mocha and a Jewish apple cake; both were good. The espresso wasn't disgustingly bitter too, like Starbucks usually is. I'll be back when I'm in Norfolk.
I can see why a lot of people like this place. Nice ambiance and the coffee was great. I was able to drink the decaf black because it was so good it needed nothing extra. And that's the decaf! Also have a pretty good selection of beers and food. The staff is very friendly and there are many places to sit.
Nice relaxed cafe. Lots of table space to enjoy food and drinks. I had the buttermilk pancakes with berries, expresso butter and maple syrup. Delicious and good value. Alternative nut milk options for your coffee and tea too
Nice place, reasonable prices. Coffee, tea, food, beer, wine, ale, cider. Seems to be always either packed or empty. When it is busy and full, table sharing is an option. Most people seem to be very open and comfortable with sharing tables.
Such a fun cafe right in Norfolk! Cool vibe in the whole shop with fun window seat spots perfect for people watching and working or even just reading while enjoying a cup of coffee or a latte. The coffee here is so good whether it's drip or speciality you won't be disappointed. They also have food options which I haven't yet tried but everyone was ordering food so it must be delicious.
Great place for coffee, wine and beer and desserts. Food is good but a little pricey for what you get. Good atmosphere and a great place to hang out. Live music on Thursday nights
Amazing atmosphere for morning coffee and breakfast. Cheap refills and great breakfast plates. When you order, you are greeted by happy employees who are busy and churning out orders for happy customers and you should grab a seat, ASAP. (Try for the windows, but good luck).Accepts Google/Samsung/(and, oh yeah)Apple Pay, as well, so stop by, even if you forgot your wallet at home!
There's some REALLY good food & desserts coming out of this coffeehouse kitchen. Many new additions so check FB!! Great community atmosphere. Thursday night jazz is always a treat.
The coffee is amazing and the pastries are delicious! There are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. Can't recommend this Cafe more. Nice patio to sit on!
Excellent little coffee shop, they have a good menu that I highly recommend trying.
One of those special places where people love to go.
I love patronizing locally owned shops and this one did not disappoint! Stopped in one late evening after a show and ordered the chicken salad sandwich. They were in the process of closing and the young lady was kind enough to make me a sandwich. I returned the next day and ordered a Apricot scone, coffee and met the owner Ms Stella. That apricot scone was delicious!!! And homemade by Ms Stella 💕👍👍
Cafe Stella is an eclectic mix of decor with spacious table seating for one to family farm table. The environment, staff and clientele were all gently welcoming. Clearly this was a locals hang out with some people using personal computers, reviewing papers, dropping in wearing running and biking gear, and others visiting with each other while dining. Folks chatted friendly with the barista, who called them by name as they approached to order. Food choices included an array of pastries, healthy eating, and freshly made meals. The board has plenty of beverage options to include house coffee blends that smell heavily! I tried the chai tea latte and a yummy baked egg dish while my friend had the house coffee. She loves Stella's and now I do too. Reasonable prices.
I would give this place 5 stars, but the ladies that took my order did not seem pleased that I was there even though they did not seem busy and it was the middle of the day (11:45 am). Overall a good experience though. Also, do not go here if you are in a hurry.Edit: I've gone back a few times now and I'm going to chalk it up to a bad day. Cheaper than Starbucks and thrice the quality. Highly recommend.
Really nice local Cafe, and I'm loving the recent renovations to expand the space. The barista was very nice and casual, and the coffee is delicious. I meet with a Spanish language group here, and it's the perfect comfortable atmosphere for our studies.
Here at the grand opening. They have a live band that is wonderful. It has breakfast food, cakes, and beer. Try the carrot cake!! Very nice atmosphere.
First time coming to this establishment. Husband and I honestly just needed to use the bathroom, but we stayed for the grilled cheese and coffee. Lol the girl working the main counter was so sweet and the vibe of the place is on point. We will definitely make it a point to come back when were in the area!
My go to place for breakfast food, black coffee and their green juice. I love the atmosphere for talking or writing.
The food is great in person, but every single time I've ordered to-go, it's been incredibly disappointing (except pastries, which are always fantastic). I've tried quiche, breakfast bowls, burritos, and quesadillas, and they've always looked and tasted sloppily thrown together. I also get noticeably smaller portions when I get food in the run. Worth it, but only if you're staying in.Edit: got breakfast on the run here the other day after not having been in a while. The staff was fantastic and the food (to-go) was great! Awesome presentation, delicious flavors and textures, nothing to complain about. Made me improve my rating!
Undercooked eggs and 1 slice of bacon, slivers of potato, $11? Oh, and O.J.
Cafe Stella is my go to study spot! The coffee, food, and staff are wonderful and you cannot beat the atmosphere!
Best coffee in the 757. Lots of varieties to choose from. They roast there own beans. They have a pretty large food menu for a coffee shop, and everything is good. The place has a good hipster vibe, and is a great place to relax while reading a book, or working on your next project.
Cafe Stella is a great place to chill out with friends and family. Right next door to Cogans Pizzaria and close to Ghent.
Ladies, the restroom is clean and comfortable. Yay!!! Atmosphere is great, decor is pleasant, food and beverage are fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they serve more than just the typical cafe style pastries. My favorite Stella meal: Chicago dogs with their Belgian amber beer. Delightful. Staff are wonderful. Facemasks during COVID-19 pandemic are vigilantly enforced and the tables are well-distanced, so I feel VERY safe in this restaurant. Highly recommend! I come here to work remotely and it's a great place for it, so long as you bring a good pair of headphones - sometimes their music selection is ... Eccentric lol Been coming at least once a week and love it.
My favorite coffee shop in Norfolk. Me and my husband go here at least once a week. Very cheerful, and much better coffee taste than the chains. I definitely recommend their coconut latte and open BLT sandwich.
This quaint coffee shop and Cafe will not disappoint. A great place for locally roasted coffee, also serving brunch and light meals, pastries, beer and wine, Cafe Stella offers ample indoor and outdoor seating, reliable and fast WiFi, and an artistic/antique atmosphere. If you're driving in, there is some parking in the back but be prepared to park on the street.
Out of boredom while in town, I visited about 15 independent cafes and this is by far the best. Great lattes and cakes/tarts. Staff is super friendly as well.
Brewed coffee is really tasty and a nice atmosphere!
Nice place with good food and coffee. The prices aren't completely consistent with the food but it is all tasty. Good place to meet friends, get some work done or just hang out.
The lady at the counter was very helpful and nice and the place has a great ambience. However, the food and drink there left a lot to be desired. I decided to get a chai latte and cheesecake because I had a craving for some sweet stuff. The latte looked and smelled great, but tasted like nothing to me when I actually sipped it. My husband's raspberry iced tea was the same. The gingerbread cheesecake was delicious, but was served at room temperature which is strange to me for a cheesecake. My husband tried their grilled cheese and it was pretty tasty, but the consistency of the cheese was very strange. I don't think I'd come back again because the only positives for me were the staff and the atmosphere.
Super cool atmosphere. Best burger I've ever had. Excellent cappuccinos.
This area is full of great little coffee shops, but Stella is without a doubt one of the best. Their pancakes are the best and they offer a cinnamon espresso butter that may change your life. Some of the lattes could be considered "pricey" but no more so than Starbucks and twice as good!
The porchetta was perfectly seasoned and quite generous! I got to take a look at the larger version of Café Stella and look forward to dining inside, when Gov. Northam lifts some restrictions 🙂
The expansion and remodel makes you feel like you're in a trendy metropolitan coffee shop. Very happy to see this small business thriving.
Love the eclectic decor. Great coffee. Best grilled cheese sandwich.
One of my favorite places! They have live bands, vegan options, wine, and of course coffee. Every time I go to this cafe the baristas go above and beyond. Very friendly and knowledgeable about their products.
Enjoyed my experience which I was a little hesitant at first. Seemed to be more of a healthy kick type of food spot but integrated some tradional food items too.... I tried the Cafe Burger, super good and cooked perfectly. Not your traditional seating but a more like home feeling. Definitely worth checking out.
This place is great. Sara (sarah?) Was super helpful and made great suggestions. Atmosphere was perfect, Coffee was delicious. I dont even drink coffee! I got the grilled cheese and it was phenomenal, apparently its been featured in the Virginia Pilot. I stopped in just to check out a menu but I plan to be back and bring friends.
We went in for drinks and stayed.for the burger. Our bartender was the best-his attention to detail made our Manhattans the best I've ever tasted. We had the cornbread appetizer, fried green tomatoes and the famous hamburger. All were divine. We will definitely go back. Outstanding cocktails, beer selection, and great music. You must try the Son of a Nutcracker or the Violent Delights.
Tasty coffee, food and an unbeatable chill vibe. They have WiFi to sit on your laptop and sip coffee and even a little Souvenir shop in the center with some eccentric gift options lol.
One of my favorite date spots in town. Get comics next door at local heroes then curl up with a good coffee and read.
Great great place! Lovely coffee and atmosphere...
